Our Founders

Both former students of CSUSM, Human Development, Denise and Corie share a lifelong passion for building communities through creative learning.  Through education and experience, together they designed an expanded learning program that is intentional and effective.  Built on the framework established by the California Department of Education and further designed through education and experience, BASE Programs has become a network of creative educators with a passion for expanded learning programs.  Gone are the days of babysitting programs.  The hours before and after school are now a platform for creative learning on school campuses.

It all begins with an idea...

We believe that expanded learning programs support student success.

They provide opportunity for student growth through the dynamic fundamentals of whole child education.

Working closely with school administrators, we design intentional programs that focus on student engagement and supplemental learning through the basics of 21st century learning.  We provide students with opportunities to cultivate these skills and learn to discover their individual interests and talents.

Here is what it looks like...

Quality Standards for Expanded Learning

The California Department of Education released its first guidelines for Expanded Learning Programs in 2014.  These guidelines act as a framework of quality for programs on school campuses.

"California’s Expanded Learning programs are an integral part of young people’s education, engaging them in year round learning opportunities that prepare them for college, career, and life." -CDE

Program Support

Our program is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, made possible through an ongoing partnership with Oceanside Unified School District and San Diego County Office of Education.  Expanded learning programs are an essential resource to working families. Together we continue to support high quality programs on school campuses.
